About me…

Originally from Harlingen, Texas, I am a Mexican-American artist born along the southernmost border of the United States. Due to my unique upbringing near the border, my paintings and embroidered works are heavily influenced by Mexican culture. Each and every piece- from tiny magnets to giant canvas paintings- is colorful, detailed, patterned, symbolic, and deeply personal.

After moving to Miami in early 2018, I produced my first collection of acrylic-on-canvas paintings focused on Mexico’s representation of the calavera “skull,” Dia de Los Muertos. Frida Kahlo, colorful Catrinas and detailed, embroidered textiles.

Living with anxiety, I find solace in painting repetitive “dot and swirl” patterns in my paintings. Similarly, I let hours pass me by as I hand-sew bookmarks and patches. I silently meditate as I thread the needle between the cross-stitch fabric. I hope my unique take on Latinx art, and my ongoing dialogue of using painting as therapy, will serve as a platform to discuss the prevalence of mental health issues among younger generations, specifically those in Hispanic or other minority communities.
